Clean NVIDIA → AMD Flow
  • DL TOOLS Download DDU + AMD Adrenalin locally — while still on NVIDIA
  • NETWORK OFF Disconnect LAN / Wi-Fi — before every cleanup step
  • SAFE MODE DDU Safe Mode → DDU → GPU: NVIDIA → Clean and Shutdown
  • SWAP CARD Install Radeon card after shutdown — stay offline
  • ADRENALIN Install AMD Adrenalin — if available: select Factory Reset
  • ONLINE Reboot → reconnect network → done
AMD Cleanup Utility removes AMD gfx/audio — for the reverse direction: DDU NVIDIA → shutdown → swap → Adrenalin.
Adrenalin Smoothness Baseline
Monitor LG 34GN850P · DP · 160 Hz OC · Adaptive-Sync ON · FAST
VRR VRR ON · Clean Frame Cap Strategy · no feature stacking
FPS Cap Refresh −3 157 @ 160 Hz
Anti-Lag Useful when no Reflex equivalent is available in-game
HYPR-RX Lean baseline first — only then enable HYPR-RX / Anti-Lag
Validation One change at a time → CapFrameX verify
Keep it simple: VRR ON · clean cap strategy · no wild feature stacking.
AMD Tools
Adrenalin Main Driver Package + per-game Controls
AMD Cleanup Util. Official tool: removes AMD gfx/audio software on Windows
CapFrameX Frametime & 1% Low Validation — Kern-Tool
Afterburner + RTSS Overlay · Cap · Curve Testing — useful on AMD too
GPU-Z Verify Link Speed · Sensors · Clocks · Temperatures
RadeonSWSlimmer Community slim install by GSDragoon — 3rd-party, not AMD-supported
CapFrameX is the core validation tool for frametime and 1% Low on AMD.
Practical Rules
Don't assume "more features = smoother". Validate every change.
Good rollback discipline: Was it sync/cap/queue behavior — or the vendor after all?
FPS Cap = Refresh −3 even with active VRR — here: 157 @ 160 Hz.
Smoothness rules don't magically change per vendor: Frame Pacing · VRR Range · Cap · Engine dominate.
AMD-specific: Testing multiple features at once → you'll never know what helped or broke things.
Top Fails
Installing Adrenalin online during a dirty swap
Leaving old NVIDIA leftovers active
No FPS Cap with active VRR
Testing multiple features simultaneously — no clear cause/effect relationship anymore
Only evaluating Avg FPS — ignoring frametime graphs
Slim-Install Note
RadeonSoftwareSlimmer
Community tool by GSDragoonnot an official AMD product.

Only use if you explicitly want to remove parts of the package. For standard users, official Adrenalin is the safer choice.

Slimming tools are for people who know why they want a leaner package.
Standard = official Adrenalin. Slim install only for power users with a specific reason.
02POST-INSTALL · WRAP-UP · CHECKLIST
Post-Install Checks
1. Device Manager: correct GPU, no wrong active display driver remaining.
2. Remove stale folders if present: C:\NVIDIA · C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation · C:\AMD (troubleshooting only)
3. Clear AMD caches if needed %localappdata%\AMD — troubleshooting only
4. Re-check refresh rate · VRR and per-game settings after install.
Notes
Practical smoothness over benchmark FPS chasing — applies equally to AMD.
RadeonSoftwareSlimmer is 3rd-party — not an official AMD utility.

Lean baseline first — then test HYPR-RX / Anti-Lag step by step.
